Take your creativity to another level!

Our metal rust accelerant works on many metal surfaces and will react differently depending on the metal used, colors will vary depending on surface.

Create rust art with ease! We have taken a method used since the 1800's and brought it to an easy to use marker form. Create beautiful rusted artwork lettering, jewelry, etch water bottles, yard art and more!

Works on:

  • Copper
  • Brass
  • Steel
  • Iron
  • Aluminum

This is NOT a glass etchant. It does not react with glass or plastics, it is safe to store in glass or plastic containers.

Shelf life: Several years

The shelf life of the etchant can be easily tested: dip a test strip of white paper into the etchant to assess its color: due to its dominantly iron-based content, a fresh etch solution has a bright orange or rusty color. A used solution turns green as cupric compounds accumulate in the bath; eventually the solution acquires a dark black/green olive color and a thicker consistency; it is then near exhaustion and requires disposal and replacement.

Test strip color:

  • BRIGHT ORANGE: Solution is FRESH
  • BLUE/GREEN: Solution is still GOOD
  • DARK GREEN / BLACK: Solution should be REPLACED

By ordering you agree to our terms of use: This product is a chemical and must be treated as such. Must me 18+ to order. Read and follow all precautions carefully. Rust has it's own properties and can cause infections and tetanus, be cautious when handling rusted metal.
